Twelve of the main pieces used in the Coronation of a British Monarch. THE St. EDWARDS CROWN:- Gold 5lb in weight, set with precious and semi-precious stones. Made for Charles II in 1661, but is believed to contain the ancient crown of Edward the Confessor. THE IMPERIAL STATE CROWN:- Contains The Black Prince's Ruby, The Stuart Sapphire, The 2nd Star of Africa Diamond (317.40 Cts) and over 3000 other precious gems and pearls. THE SOVEREIGN'S SCEPTRE WITH THE CROSS:- Made for Charles II in 1661, but altered during 1910, when the '1st Star of Africa' diamond (530 cts. the largest in the world) was added. THE SOVEREIGN'S ORB :- Made in 1661 for Charles II - held by the Sovereign as 'Defender of Faith'. THE COMMONWEALTH BRACELETS - (Armills) These were a gift to Queen Elizabeth II, for her coronation in 1953. THE CORONATION RING:- Made for William IV in 1831, has been used since by all monarchs except Queen Victoria. THE AMPULLA & ANOINTING SPOON are two of the oldest and spiritually most important pieces used in the coronation ceremony. The Ampulla contains Holy oil, which the Archbishop pours into the anointing spoon, and anoints the new Sovereign. THE GEORGE IV DIADEM:- Made for the coronation of George IV in 1820, but is better known as the one worn by Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II on ceremonial state occasions. THE SCEPTRE WITH THE DOVER:- Made for the coronation of Charles in 1661. The sceptres are both held by the Sovereign during the Crowning. THE JEWELLED SWORD (1820) :- Encrusted with precious gems, it is the most valuable sword in the world. THE SWORD OF STATE (1677) :-  The Scabbard is covered with red velvet, with the devise of the rose, thistle, harp, fleur-de-lis, portcullis and the Royal arms of William and Mary.
