SOMERSET HOUSE BOOKENDS

This palatial building was built upon the Thames in 1786. It was designed as the pay office and for what was then the largest Navy in the world. The model shows one part of the building, its arched centre being the main entrance to the office and courtyard.

This is a prime London landmark at the top of The Strand and was built by the influential architect Sir William Chambers. It has recently become home to one of the greatest silver collections in the world - The Gilbert Collection from America.

This Somerset House Model is hand cast in fine Gypsum plaster from an original reproductions sculpted by Timothy Richards - Architectural Models in Plaster in Bath, England. The Model is cast in  2 halves to form a stunning pair of bookends.

Weight: 3.7 kg - Dimensions:13w x 8h x 2.5d
