bust of the Roman Emperor Hadrian

was sculpted by Revival Arts of Bath and each reproduction is hand made and finished in British gypsum plaster giving it a hard, smooth feel.

Hadrian lived 24 January, 76 AD – 10 July, 138 AD and was Roman emperor from 117 to 138. He is known for building Hadrian's Wall, which marked the northern limit of Britannia. He also rebuilt the Pantheon and constructed the Temple of Venus and Roma. Philhellene in most of his tastes, he is considered by some to have been a humanist, and he is regarded as one of the Five Good Emperors.

The objects cast around the base of this bust include Hadrians wall, a roman chariot, the colloseum, and Hadrians Arch.

The etched inscription around the base reads "PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH”

Each bust is accompanied by a folded gift tag which is 4.5cm x 2.5cm.

The tag has a caricature of Dickens with the quotation. The back of the tag explains the quotation and reinforces the fact that the piece is made by hand and in England. The inside is blank.

Height - 13.5cm
