Robert Adam’s Charlotte Square is arguably the finest urban Square in northern Europe. Restoration by the National Trust for Scotland of numbers 26 to 31 shows the buildings as originally individually constructed. Robert Adam was born in Kirkcaldy in 1728 and became the most celebrated Scottish architect of the 18th century, working extensively both in Scotland and England. He created an easily recognisable style resulting from a fusion of classical sources.
