 | Michelin House "Deco" (London) - Signed and Dated
The model shows the first purpose built tyre-fitting garage built in England by the innovative Michelin brothers. Their new building designed by chief engineer Francios Espinasse was a great hit with the public. The character of Bibendum dominates the garage. The bon viveur and gastronomic hero is shown on all three sides. On the front face he proudly holds up the metal fragments pulled from tyres. On the left panel Bibendum aims a sidekick at their main competitors Dunlop whereas on the right he rides off confidently on his bicycle equipped with the revolutionary Michelin tyres - a wonderful model for all those who love motoring or indeed eating. The Garage was saved and renovated by the designer Sir Terence Conran in the 1980’s. The model is signed and dated.
