Eighteenth-century elegance pervades this delightful concert. The artist Thomas Gainsborough was also a keen musician, and much of the music on this disc was composed by his personal friends, or by clients of the London builders of the harpsichord.
Gerald Gifford plays a Shudi & Broadwood harpsichord of c.1775.
